Gaylord’s Ventilator Care Program provides for the specialized care and weaning of medically complex patients from ventilators used for breathing.
Many ventilator-dependent patients may be weaned from ventilator use with the supervision, encouragement and support of Gaylord’s respiratory therapy staff. This enables a large percentage of pulmonary patients to return home after discharge. Gaylord has a very good track record in successfully weaning patients from mechanical ventilation via the ventilator care program.
Program Features include:
- Respiratory weaning process tailored to each patient under the direction of a board certified pulmonologist and respiratory care practitioner.
- State-of-the-art ventilators allow portability, enabling patients to participate in therapies as soon as they are stable.
- Unique ventilator monitoring system allows patients to leave their rooms and enjoy the hospital’s solariums and courtyards while being safely monitored by a respiratory care practitioner who can respond within 1 minute if needed.
- Outdoor courtyard is equipped with medical gas, a nurse call system and a ventilator monitoring system so that patients can take advantage of the hospital’s beautiful setting.
