Gaylord Specialty Healthcare is not your ordinary hospital. Officially, we’re a “long-term acute care hospital,”   but this description often leaves people with a puzzled expression on their faces. In other words, Gaylord is      where you want to come to after you’ve had complex surgery, a serious medical condition or sustained multiple injuries and the acute care hospital says you’re not sick enough to stay there but you’re not well enough to go home or to a skilled nursing facility. You need more time—under a doctor’s watchful eye—to recover. What do you do? That's where Gaylord comes in.

At Gaylord, we provide specialized medical care to people who need additional attention for their complex or chronic medical issues and rehabilitation needs. While patients average about four to five days in an acute care hospital, our patients are with us for about 25 days. In that time, I see patients begin their journey toward recovery, and many choose to continue their care and treatment with us as outpatients. Some patients are so impressed by their Gaylord experience that they come back to become part of the Gaylord team as employees or volunteers. Just ask Rachel. You can view her testimonial here on our website.

I do see Gaylord as extraordinary. Our patients—whether they come to us for their inpatient or outpatient care—can count on us to deliver the best, most effective clinical services designed to promote their functionality. This feat, of course, wouldn’t be possible without our talented staff. Our staff thinks possible and goes beyond ordinary lengths to provide the best solutions for our patients.
