Frequently Asked Questions
What should I bring with me to my appointment?
Please bring a form of identification, insurance cards and a copy of your referral, if you have one, with your to your appointment. If you have access to your medical records from your referring health care provider, including notes from the surgeon or urgent care center, reports of any imaging studies, or a disk with MRI, CT scan, and/or x-rays, please bring these with you. The staff finds these very helpful in addition to reviewing your history with you.
What is the benefit of having Gaylord's physical therapy clinic located inside a fitness center?
As a partner with HealthTrax Fitness and Wellness, Gaylord clients are able to use the state-of-the-art equipment at the gym. We frequently have clients warm up or cool down on a treadmill or bicycle located adjacent to the clinic treatment space. HealthTrax also offers a discounted membership upon the completion of your physical therapy program.
Should orthotics be examined at regular intervals, even if they continue to feel comfortable?
Yes. Orthotics do wear out and may need to be modified, repaired or replaced in order to provide adequate support to your feet. Our staff can perform a gait analysis, evaluate footwear and determine if new orthotics are needed. Our center offers various pre-fabricated orthotic options. If these choices do not meet your needs, we can refer you to an expert in creating custom orthotics.
What is mechanical traction used to treat?
Mechanical traction is most frequently used for neck pain. By using mechanical traction, we may be able to resolve some of the pain and stiffness you are experiencing. Symptoms that often come from your neck include pain in the middle of your neck, pain to one side of your neck, or pain in one or both of your shoulder blades. Occasionally, symptoms coming from your neck may be felt as pain or numbness and tingling in your arm or hand. Since many different symptoms coming from your neck can be felt in many different places, it's important to see a physical therapist to help determine the cause of your symptoms, and to decide on the best way to manage your condition. If you benefit from mechanical traction, we can assist with the acquisition of a home traction unit.
