Sleep Labs Designed with You in Mind
The physicians at Gaylord Sleep Medicine know that quality sleep is crucial to your health. Recent medical studies have linked increased risk of heart attack, stroke, cardiovascular disease, obesity and attention deficit disorder to sleep disorders. That’s why Gaylord Sleep Medicine makes your sleep test experience as comfortable as possible to get the best results possible.
All of our sleep centers are designed with your comfort in mind. Unlike most other sleep programs, we opened our labs in Connecticut’s communities—not inside a hospital. Each one of our centers features high quality, hotel-like accommodations in a pleasant, comfortable atmosphere.
Given Gaylord’s extensive medical expertise in sleep medicine, we also work with children from infancy through adolescence. Keeping the needs of parents and young children in mind, our sleep centers have rooms designed with twin beds to accommodate parents who wish to remain with their child overnight.
Home Sleep Testing
Gaylord Sleep Medicine now offers Home Sleep Testing (HST) for some patients. HST is used to diagnose obstructive sleep apnea. Your healthcare provider can determine if HST is an option for you. Home sleep testing occurs when you sleep at home wearing equipment that collects information about breathing during sleep. HST is different from a sleep study in a lab because you are sleeping at home and using different equipment. There is no technologist at your home like there is in a lab. You will usually set up the testing equipment yourself. (Download our Home Sleep Testing brochure)
Pediatric Sleep Testing
Gaylord Sleep Medicine provides comprehensive diagnostic and treatment services for sleep disorders across all age groups. Our “kid-friendly” environment makes the sleep medicine experience comfortable for children and their parents. Unlike sleep programs that are offered only in hospital settings, Gaylord’s sleep medicine patient rooms are comfortable surroundings, similar to a hotel room, which helps to make our young patients, and their families, more relaxed about their sleep medicine experience.
However, if a child needs a hospital setting due to medical concerns or age, Gaylord’s affiliation with Connecticut Children’s Medical Center (CCMC), allows for sleep studies to be conducted in a hospital environment.
