Performs functions associated with the collection of bills for patient accounts and determines collectability of balances due from payers and patients.
Qualifications: Associate¹s degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school and six months to one year related experience and/or training or equivalent combination. Minimum of three years experience in hospital patient accounts environment or medical office setting required. Basic computer proficiency required. Requires thorough understanding of all types of insurance benefit plans including, but not limited to, Medicare, Medicaid, Blue Cross, Workers Compensation, and Managed Care. Familiarity with basic medical terminology, CPT4 and ICD-9, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to work independently is necessary. Knowledge of CT Collection Law is beneficial.
