Gaylord's audiologists evaluate the hearing of patients of all ages, including children as young as newborns. The staff is experienced in performing test procedures on difficult-to-test patients such as:

  • Patients with traumatic brain injury
  • Newborns and very young children
  • Profoundly retarded children and adults

About Hearing Aids

Hearing aids have come a long way in the last 20 years. Coming in a variety of shapes, sizes and colors, hearing aids are prescribed according to the type and degree of hearing loss. Many are programmable so that adjustments can be made for environmental and situational noise. Some weigh as little as one-twelfth of an ounce.

Choosing the right hearing aid is a joint effort between the client and audiologist. Our audiologists consider the client's:

  • lifestyle
  • physical strengths and limitations
  • medical conditions
  • cosmetic and style preferences
  • budget
  • All hearing aid purchases include:
  • family and patient education and counseling
  • a 30-day trial period
  • free hearing aid follow-up visits during the initial six months of use

Children and Hearing Loss

No child is too young for a hearing test. While some types of hearing loss can be medically corrected, others are permanent and can be helped with hearing aids and special early education programs. The sooner hearing impairment is identified, the sooner treatment can begin. Our audiologists can assist help you assess your child's hearing.
