Some 100 million people in the U.S. regularly fail to get a full, restful night's sleep. The American Sleep Disorders Association estimates that at least 84 sleep disorders can harm personal health and endanger public safety because people are exhausted on the job and behind the wheel. The good news is that most sleep disorders can be treated through lifestyle changes, medication, good sleep habits, continuous positive airway pressure therapy, oral appliances, surgery or a combination of methods. Gaylord Sleep Services help diagnose sleep disorders. An overnight sleep study - or polysomnogram - is provided to patients with sleep-related breathing problems. Referrals and Appointments Sleep services are available at five of Gaylord Hospital's facilities: Wallingford Gaylord Hospital New Haven Gaylord/New Haven Fairfield Gaylord/Fairfield West Hartford Gaylord/West Hartford A physician's referral is required for sleep studies. Insurance usually covers sleep disorders evaluations. Your referring physician is provided with a written report and treatment recommendations.
