Gaylord Sleep Medicine Centers
The Best Doctors. The Best Sleep Centers. The Best Sleep Possible.

Gaylord Sleep Medicine can put you on your way to sleeping well again. We offer consultative and diagnostic services at our conveniently located centers in Glastonbury, Guilford, North Haven, and Trumbull. Our Wallingford office, located at the hospital’s main campus, houses Gaylord’s sleep research and education program.

Gaylord answers Connecticut’s need for sleep medicine services as the largest single provider in the state. Accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, Gaylord takes sleep medicine seriously. Our physicians are Board-certified in sleep medicine as well as the specialties of neurology, pediatrics, pulmonary medicine, critical care, internal medicine, geriatrics and psychiatry. Given the important role that clinical research plays in the advancement of sleep medicine, Gaylord recently added research and education to its program under the leadership of Meir Kryger, M.D., an internationally known expert in sleep medicine.

Unlike other sleep programs that offered in hospital settings, Gaylord’s sleep medicine centers are located in comfortable, familiar settings for people with sleep disorders—especially those who may be reluctant or nervous about an upcoming sleep study.

“We offer people very comfortable accommodations for their sleep studies,” said Richard Serafino, director of the program. “We know that having a sleep study isn’t at the top of everyone’s list, so we strive to make the experience as comfortable and patient friendly as possible. Our 12-bed lab in North Haven is inside the Gaylord Wellness Center, and the rooms rival those of any nice hotel. And if it’s a hotel experience that you want, we can deliver. We have a lab at the Trumbull Marriott Hotel, and it’s the perfect fit for Gaylord Sleep Medicine. Not only does Gaylord offer patients and their physicians a comprehensive, high quality sleep study, but now also offers a very comfortable, quality, and familiar setting for them to have their study conducted."

Studies show that sleep studies can diagnose serious breathing-related problems that contribute to sleeping disorders. Studies also show, however, that some people become anxious about going for a sleep study and don't show for their appointments. "Most people are familiar with going to a nice hotel and having a pleasant experience. We believe that by offering sleep studies in the Marriott that people will be more receptive to having their sleep study so that Gaylord can help them and their referring physician deliver better patient care."

Sleep Labs Designed with You in Mind

The experts at Gaylord Sleep Medicine know that quality sleep is crucial to your overall health. Recent medical studies have linked increased risk of heart attack, stroke, cardiovascular disease, obesity and attention deficit disorder to sleep disorders. That’s why Gaylord Sleep Medicine makes your sleep test experience as comfortable as possible.

All Gaylord sleep labs are designed with your comfort in mind. Unlike most other sleep programs, we opened our labs in Connecticut’s communities—not inside a hospital. Each one of our labs features high quality accommodations in a pleasant, comfortable atmosphere. Our lab at the Trumbull Marriott features hotel amenities, including king-size beds and room service for breakfast. Our North Haven lab, too, is based on a hotel experience.

Given Gaylord’s extensive medical expertise in sleep medicine, we can also work with children from infancy through adolescence. Keeping the needs of parents and young children in mind, Gaylord’s sleep labs have rooms designed with twin beds to accommodate parents who wish to remain with their child overnight.
