About Gaylord

Gaylord’s main campus is located on 500 acres in scenic Wallingford, Connecticut. We also operate three outpatient centers—one at the hospital's main campus in Wallingford and two Physical Therapy Orthopedics and Sports Medicine offices, at 8 Devine Street in North Haven, and at 1154 Highland Avenue in Cheshire.

Gaylord Hospital is a 137-bed non-profit specialty hospital, also known as a long-term acute care hospital (LTACH), specializing in medical management and rehabilitation for patients who have suffered acute illnesses or a traumatic accident. Our average length of stay is at least 25 days. We are staffed and equipped to handle the needs of the acutely ill or chronically disabled patients who require a hospital level of care. Gaylord treats individuals who need care and rehabilitation for illness or injury related to the brain and nervous system, spine, bones and joints, and lungs and other conditions. Gaylord Outpatient Services, with locations in Wallingford, North Haven, and Cheshire, offers concussion care, rehabilitation medical services, physical, occupational, speech and aquatic therapies and cutting edge technologies. Our mission is to preserve and enhance a person’s health and function. Working at Gaylord

"Gaylord is a very, very special place and I'm happy that I can call it home," says Allison Weisberger, RN. Allison cared for a young man, Jay, who had a spinal cord injury. Jay later became the featured adaptive athlete in the 2019 Gaylord Gauntlet 5K, which is an obtacle race held on the Gaylord campus. Many of our staff volunteer at the Gauntlet and Allison was on the course and saw Jay go by with his team. It was an emotional moment. Because our frontline staff are able to spend more time with our patients than in an acute care setting, they really get to know our patients and their families. The bonds that are formed are strong and the recoveries that are achieved are truly a team effort. We're here to keep our patients inspired to never give up and to never lose hope.
