Exercise For Life (EX4L)

EXCEL in functional fitness through strength, endurance, power and flexibility. Exercise for Life (EX4L) is a strength and conditioning program for individuals ages 16 and up with a physical disability. The class provides an opportunity to work on building strength, endurance and flexibility in a group setting. The class is run by an exercise specialist under the supervision of a physical therapist and is located at Gaylord Physical Therapy in Cheshire. This is an excellent opportunity for participants to learn or build upon fitness skills and become more comfortable working out in a gym setting. Modifications will be made for each individual to promote independence and success. Participants may register for one class series at a time. There is no fee to attend this class. Boccia

Boccia

Boccia is a throwing sport of precision which has been adapted for athletes of all abilities using a few modifications. The object is to place balls closest to the target ball by throwing or rolling the ball using a ramp. Games are played one on one, in pairs, and teams of three. All are welcome to learn this game of skill and strategy! There will be 1 session: 2:00-3:30PM. There is a limit of 12 participants per session. Preregistration is required. Paratriathlon Discovery Night

EVENT INFORMATION

Join the Gaylord Sports Association and learn about paratriathlon and the Sports Association Paratriathlon Training Program. The Discovery Night includes:
• Presentation about paratriathlon
• Video
• Demonstration of equipment
• Opportunity to meet the coach and ask questions
• Information on applying for the program

This event is open to anyone who is interested in learning about paratriathlon and the Gaylord Sports Association Paratriathlon Training Program.

ABOUT PARATRIATHLON

Triathlon is a multi-sport event that combines swimming, biking and running into one race. Paratriathlon is a version of triathlon that is designed for athletes with
a physical disability or visual impairment. The Gaylord Sports Association Paratriathlon Training Program provides an opportunity for individuals ages 16 and up to compete individually or as part of a relay team during a sprint distance race (0.5 mile swim, 13 mile bike and 3 mile run). We welcome athletes with varying levels of experience and
adaptive equipment is available for use during the program.

Veterans Bowling

Veterans Adaptive Bowling

Join the Gaylord Sports Association for our first Veterans Bowling program! These outings will provide a relaxed atmosphere to try the sport of bowling or work on perfecting your skills. Both beginners and advanced bowlers are welcome. We will provide pizza for all participants. All equipment is provided. This program is for service members and veterans with a physical disability or visual impairment. There is no fee to attend this clinic, however registration is required. Kayak Class

Kayak Class

This class will include instruction on the basics of kayaking including paddling skills, standard and adaptive kayak equipment, safety procedures and how to adapt or modify for individual needs. The class begins with instruction on land, followed by on water practice in the pool. The pool portion of the class will include a wet exit and water safety check. All participants must meet essential eligibility requirements to participate in this class. To begin the registration process for this class, please complete the kayak registration form and contact the Gaylord Sports Association at 203-284-2772 or sports@gaylord.org. Space is limited for each class.
