Gaylord Hospital’s Visitation Guidelines in Response to the Current Rise of COVID-19 in the Community

Gaylord Hospital is committed to providing patients and staff a safe environment and with an increase in COVID-19 cases, the following rules are in place.

EFFECTIVE JAN 10, 2024 MASKING UPDATE FOR WALLINGFORD CAMPUS OUTPATIENT AND COMMON AREAS:

The following changes are in effect for the Wallingford campus:

  • Masking is no longer required but is recommended in outpatient care areas, the cafeteria, and lobbies on the Wallingford campus.

Masking and visitation expectations for the inpatient care areas on the Wallingford campus remain in place from Dec 15; details are found below.

 

EFFECTIVE DEC 15, 2023 VISITOR UPDATE FOR WALLINGFORD CAMPUS:

Each inpatient can have two (2) visitors at a time during visiting hours. Patients no longer have to choose two (2) designated visitors due to decreased COVID-related statistics.

  • Patients will be allowed two visitors anytime from 12 p.m. – 8 p.m. Monday through Friday.
  • Visiting hours are extended to 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. for the holidays observed on Monday, December 25, 2023, and Monday, January 1, 2024.
  • Patients will be allowed two visitors anytime from 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
  • Patients under investigation (PUI) for COVID-19 and patients who are COVID-19 positive (+) may be allowed a daily 30 to 60-minute visit with one designated visitor. Visits must first be approved by the healthcare team and arranged through the care manager.
  • Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Visitors are to enter and exit through the Jackson Lobby and check in at the Security desk.
  • Visitors must mask at all times.
  • Masking is still required for all staff, patients, outpatients, and visitors on the Wallingford campus.

     

EFFECTIVE DEC 15, 2023 OUTPATIENT LOCATION MASKING:

Gaylord outpatient locations at Cheshire, Cromwell, Madison and North Haven are no longer mandatory masking sites.

Gaylord encourages masking for staff and patients. Masks are available at all locations.

 

EFFECTIVE DEC 6, 2023 VISITORS MUST ADHERE TO THE FOLLOWING:

  • Each patient can have two (2) designated visitors during their time as an inpatient. Both designated visitors may visit the patient at the same time if they wish to.

  • All below rules remain in place.


EFFECTIVE DEC 4, 2023 VISITORS MUST ADHERE TO THE FOLLOWING:

  • Visitors must be age 12 and over; children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

  • Patients with children under the age of 12 must arrange visitation with the designated care manager.

  • Each patient is allowed to have two (2) visitors at one time, once per day.

  • Patients under investigation (PUI) for COVID-19 and patients who are COVID-19 positive (+), may be allowed a daily 30-60 minute visit with one designated visitor. Visits must first be approved by the healthcare team and arranged through the care manager.

  • Visitors are to enter and exit through the Jackson Lobby and check in at the Security desk.

  • Visitors must mask at all times.

  • Visits must take place in the patient’s room or in outside designated areas when weather is permitting (outside visits must be approved by the medical staff and healthcare team).

EFFECTIVE DEC 4, 2023 FOR CHESHIRE, CROMWELL, MADISON AND NORTH HAVEN LOCATIONS:

Due to the rise in COVID-19 in the community and hospitalizations, we have instituted mandatory masking for all staff. Masking is recommened for patients and their loved ones accompanying them to appointments
