Center for Brain Health

Our Approach to Care

Your brain is the most complex organ in your body. At Gaylord, we not only help repair injured brains, we also focus on keeping your brain working at its best. Using proven, research-based treatment, we diagnose, treat and strengthen the brain. If you've had a brain injury, such as a stroke or concussion, a disease that impacts brain function, like Parkinson's disease, or want to optimize your brain's health we can help. We understand how changes in cognitive or thinking abilities, behavioral, or emotional changes can affect your life.

Each patient in our program has a physical and cognitive assessment, which is like a physical examination, but for your brain. Based on your examination, a treatment plan will be designed that may include physical, occupational, and cognitive therapy, plus plans for nutrition, exercise, and medical management.

Who We Help

Individuals with brain injury or diseases of the brain may experience confusion, forgetfulness, emotional outbursts, irritability, and depression. We know that the brain can be strengthened, even months after injury.

For individuals concerned about potential cognitive decline or those who want to keep their brain at optimal fitness, we offer evaluations and recommendations as well.

Typical conditions we treat include:

  • Acquired Brain Injury and Concussion
  • Congenital and developmental disorders of the brain
  • Dementia, e.g., Early Onset Alzheimer’s disease, Frontotemporal Dementia
  • Disorders of attention, e.g., ADHD
  • Disorders of language, e.g., progressive aphasias
  • Epilepsy
  • Impulsivity / Impulse control disorders
  • Movement disorders, e.g., Parkinson’s disease, Huntington’s disease, Multiple Sclerosis
  • Stroke and cerebrovascular disease
