Library Resources

The Emily Hall Tremaine Library & Resource Center has books, journals, databases and audiovisuals to provide information for patients, their families and caregivers, our staff, students, members of the community, and other libraries. The collection includes resources in the fields of consumer health, medicine, nursing, allied health, and health administration. A small collection of fiction and biography is maintained for the recreational reader.

A professional health librarian will perform literature searches for personal health information only. Requests may be made in person or by telephone. Most searches are done using the National Library of Medicine MEDLINE database. You will receive a printout containing the citations to journal articles. Full text of most articles can be obtained from our collection or from our network of affiliated libraries. Requests that come from another library take 5 or 6 working days to arrive. Fax service is only available in the case of a clinical emergency

The Internet contains a vast number of health-related resources. The list below is a starting point for users who are unfamiliar with websites or other resources intended for both the consumer and the health professional.
