(WTNH) — A Connecticut COVID-19 survivor wants you to hear about her ordeal if you are hesitant about getting the vaccine. She almost died. Some steadfast dietitians at a rehab center gave her the strength to fight back.
Gianna Consiglio, a mother of three refused to give up in the hospital or rehab. She lost her appetite and food became what it took to bring her back. She is now a COVID long-hauler, refusing to let it stop her from sharing her vaccination message.

Returning to work can be challenging for people who are COVID-19 “long-haulers,” those who have recovered from the virus but are dealing with long-term effects.

WALLINGFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — Before Nov. of 2020, Mark Zurlis enjoyed a carefree life and worked as a carpenter making custom kitchens. He got married on Nov. 7.
“We had a 100-person wedding, everybody was fine. We went to Jamaica for a honeymoon completely fine got all our tests and stuff,” says Zurlis.
He then had Thanksgiving with just six members of his family bubble and got COVID-19.

Michael DiDonato, 62, went into the hospital back in November at Saint Francis Hospital before he was transferred to Gaylord Healthcare in Wallingford back in January.
He was on a ventilator and was not expected to live. He couldn’t walk, talk, stand, or even swallow. Now he’s doing all that himself.

WALLINGFORD, Conn. — Michael DiDonato, a 62-year old retired attorney from Wethersfield, was wheeled out of Gaylord Hospital on Friday, and, that brief roll meant great strides for the father and husband.
DiDonato was admitted to Saint Francis Hospital on November 16 after being diagnosed with COVID-19.
His battle against the coronavirus was intense: DiDonato spent weeks in the ICU and eight weeks on a ventilator. After showing signs of improvement, DiDonato was transferred to Gaylord Hospital in Wallingford in January for more arduous months of rehab.
