Brain Injury Rehabilitation Experts

Gaylord is CARF (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities) accredited for all inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation programs and has specialty accreditation for our spinal cord, stroke, and brain injury programs. Gaylord is one of two long-term acute care hospitals in the world, and the only of its kind in the U.S., with our unique level of CARF accreditation. We offer transitional living for brain injury patients and provide a robust outpatient rehabilitation program. Most important, our patient outcomes consistently indicate that we maintain a singular focus on the individual and the quality of his or her life.

We bring together an array of resources, advanced technology, plus a team of highly experienced providers, to offer each brain injury patient an individualized approach to treatment.

Our inpatient and outpatient programs are designed to support patients at each stage of their recovery, helping them adapt to their post-injury lives, maximize their independence and reenter their communities.

Since every brain injury is different, our interdisciplinary team will customize a program based on the patient’s specific needs.

May is Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month

Gaylord would like to take the opportunity to educate the community about brain injury prevention for motorcyclists. Wearing a helmet while on a motorcycle, whether you are a rider or a passenger, can be the difference between life, death or acquiring a traumatic brain injury. We have collected a number of resources to encourage all motorcyclists to gear up and wear their helmets anytime they are riding. Motorcycle helmets are 37 percent (for riders) and 41 percent (for passengers) effective in preventing deaths, but only 65% of riders wear a DOT-compliant helmet. Inpatient Brain Injury Program

Whether as a result of illness or injury, every brain injury is different, so rehabilitation must be individualized. Our inpatient program supports each stage of recovery with therapies that address the ability to speak, comprehend, reason, and remember. At Gaylord, rehabilitation from a brain injury is physical, emotional, and social. The goal is to achieve maximum personal independence and a reentry to the community.

Outpatient Brain Injury Program

The outpatient brain injury program at Gaylord uses a variety of rehabilitation techniques to maximize independence and community reintegration. Our staff works directly with patients and their families to adapt to the challenges of recovering from a brain injury and to keep moving forward toward independence.
