Experts in Physiatry
Physiatry is a branch of medicine that diagnoses and treats conditions that have resulted in temporary or permanent loss of function or independence for the patient. A physiatrist is a physician with training in physical medicine and rehabilitation. Physiatry is used in both inpatient and outpatient settings at Gaylord to assess and treat patients. Rather than look only at the patient’s medical condition, Gaylord physiatrists look at the whole person in devising a treatment plan. Our physiatrists consult with other physicians (such as pulmonologists, primary care providers, and neurologists) as needed. Using the latest technology and treatments, they lead an internal team of specialists and therapists to help patients reclaim the function they have lost.
