The Outpatient Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program consists of a team of specialists including respiratory therapists and other medical professionals who provide rehabilitation to individuals with chronic pulmonary disease, including COPD, interstitial lung disease (ILD), cystic fibrosis (CF), and idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). We also treat patients recovering from ongoing COVID-19 pulmonary issues and those who are preparing for or recovering from lung surgery or a lung transplant. Education is provided for patients and their families.
A customized plan is developed for each patient that is designed to enhance the quality of life. The pulmonary rehabilitation team is led by the program medical director, who is a board-certified pulmonologist, with advanced certification in critical care and internal medicine.
The outpatient program is overseen by a group of pulmonary rehab specialists. Gaylord’s program meets twice weekly for nine weeks. The team works with participants to develop a personalized exercise and education plan. Monitored and specialized exercise guidance is provided during each exercise session. Patients work on endurance training using fitness equipment such as a stationary bicycle, arm ergometers, a treadmill, step trainer and strengthening equipment.
