At 63, Glen Miller was head coach of the University of Saint Joseph men’s basketball team, a program he helped build into a perennial NCAA Tournament contender.

His résumé included a college career at Northeastern University, where he played under Hall of Fame coach Jim Calhoun. When Calhoun left to become head coach at UConn, Glen joined his staff. He later became the head coach at Connecticut College, Brown University, and the University of Pennsylvania before returning to UConn as associate head coach and landing at USJ.

For four decades, Glen lived by game plans, discipline, and the drive it takes to succeed.

But what he didn’t expect was that all of it would prepare him for the hardest comeback of his career.

Josh's Story: Technology Powering Progress

"This program gives me hope."

Josh didn’t hesitate when it came time to choose where to go for inpatient rehabilitation.

“Early on, my surgeon said that Gaylord Hospital was the place for spinal cord injury,” he says. “Nurses, family, everyone said the same thing. By the time I arrived, I already had a lot of confidence in Gaylord’s expertise.”

In October 2025, the 39-year-old was involved in a car accident so severe that the force of impact ejected him from his seatbelt, causing a level T2 complete spinal cord injury. Doctors said Josh would likely never move or regain sensation below his level of injury again.

After weeks in the ICU, Josh came to Gaylord Hospital, where he spent two months in intensive inpatient rehabilitation before transitioning to Gaylord’s new SCI Day Treatment Program. Today, he spends three days a week in the intensive outpatient program, building strength and mobility and learning the skills needed for greater independence in his daily life.

Eighteen years ago, Richard was a healthy, active 46-year-old professional and a self-described “gym rat” when he had a stroke so severe that doctors predicted he would remain in a persistent vegetative state.

But with hard work and determination over months as a Gaylord Hospital inpatient, followed by years of intensive outpatient therapy, Richard defied every expectation.

TikTok Creator Makes Miraculous Recovery

Since 2018, Michaela has been a bright presence on social media, dancing, laughing, and sharing her faith and positivity on TikTok. The influencer’s popular Yellow Room Live show has reached over a million viewers, who are uplifted and encouraged by her contagious energy, joy, and faith-filled messages.

One afternoon, just before going live, Michaela told her mother, Teia, that she had a headache and asked for medicine. Moments later, the 23-year-old collapsed.

A rare abnormal tangle of blood vessels, called an arteriovenous malformation, or AVM, had ruptured in her brain. She underwent four emergency surgeries, including a craniotomy to relieve life-threatening swelling in her brain.

When it came time to plan the next steps for her daughter’s recovery, Teia toured Gaylord Hospital and immediately knew it was the place that could best help Michaela regain what she had lost.

Teia recalls the day Michaela, who had a tracheotomy and was fed through a tube in her stomach, was admitted to Gaylord.

A Life of Devotion

Service isn’t something Eric does.

It’s who he is.

In 2019, Eric was a volunteer firefighter in Hebron, an active member of the National Guard, and worked full time as a draftsman. His life centered on showing up for others, until he became the one who needed others to show up for him.

While responding to an emergency call, Eric was involved in a high-speed motor vehicle crash. The 24-year-old sustained a severe traumatic brain injury, along with skull and spinal fractures and multiple internal injuries. He required a ventilator to breathe, and the road ahead was uncertain.
