WALLINGFORD, CONNECTICUT, October 1, 2026 — Gaylord Specialty Healthcare, a nonprofit rehabilitation-focused healthcare organization headquartered in Wallingford, is pleased to announce that it has received a grant from the Town Fair Tire Foundation Fund to support the purchase of high-priority nursing, education, physical therapy, and rehabilitation technology for its Wallingford, Fairfield, and North Haven outpatient locations.
This marks the third consecutive year of support from the East Haven-based foundation for Gaylord’s programs.
The grant will fully fund an Xcite2, an advanced neurorehabilitation device designed for people with neurological conditions that cause muscle weakness or paralysis, such as spinal cord injury, stroke, traumatic brain injury, and multiple sclerosis.
The technology uses small, controlled electrical signals to activate weakened muscles while patients practice purposeful, functional movements such as reaching, grasping, standing, transferring, and walking-related activities.
The grant will also purchase 23 laptops for nursing education and patient treatment, training manikin, and other essential technology.
