Pulmonary Program

About Our Program

Pulmonary Rehabilitation at Gaylord

Gaylord’s pulmonary care is distinguished by the fact that we are a Passy-Muir Center of Excellence and the first Vapotherm Center of Excellence in the U.S.Our care for pulmonary patients is delivered by a team of pulmonologists, respiratory therapists, nurses, physical, occupational, and speech therapists, registered dieticians, psychologists, therapeutic recreation specialists, and care managers. Further, a multidisciplinary Vent Rounds Team facilitates vent weaning, tracheostomy decannulation, and patient mobility while improving the safety and quality of the care we provide. Outpatient care stands ready to continue rehabilitation when appropriate.

Personalized Care Plans

The program strives to maximize functional independence for every level of care

Inpatient Care

We accept pulmonary patients from acute care settings who need ongoing medical, nursing, and respiratory care. We help patients deal with weaning from a ventilator, restrictive lung disease, COPD, tracheostomy, serious pneumonia, and pulmonary insufficiency. Our approach to care is personal, precise, and focused on building the skills and functions required to live life as fully as possible

Outpatient Care

We help pulmonary outpatients who have COPD, emphysema, chronic bronchitis, pulmonary fibrosis, asthma, lung cancer, pre and post-lung surgery recovery, and other conditions. Our Outpatient Pulmonary Rehab Program meets twice weekly for nine weeks to help patients develop a personalized exercise and education plan.
