Pulmonary Rehabilitation at Gaylord
Gaylord’s pulmonary care is distinguished by the fact that we are a Passy-Muir Center of Excellence and the first Vapotherm Center of Excellence in the U.S.
Our care for pulmonary patients is delivered by a team of pulmonologists, respiratory therapists, nurses, physical, occupational, and speech therapists, registered dieticians, psychologists, therapeutic recreation specialists, and care managers. Further, a multidisciplinary Vent Rounds Team facilitates vent weaning, tracheostomy decannulation, and patient mobility while improving the safety and quality of the care we provide. Outpatient care stands ready to continue rehabilitation when appropriate.
Ventilator Weaning at Gaylord
The Oupatient Pulmonary Rehabilitaton Program meets twice weekly for nine weeks. The pulmonary rehabilitation team, led by the program medical director, works with participants to develop a personalized exercise and education plan that is carefully monitored during each exercise session. Patients work on endurance training using fitness equipment such as a stationary bicycle, arm ergometers, a treadmill, step trainer and strengthening equipment.
