Wallingford FD assists Gaylord staff with fit-testing respirator masks

Wallingford Fire Department staff including Deputy Fire Chief, Samuel Wilson volunteered to assist Gaylord Specialty Healthcare in “fit-testing” nearly 200 hospital employees as part of the rehabilitation-based healthcare system’s Coronavirus disease preparedness plan. Fit-testing is a time-intensive procedure that tests the seal between a respirator’s mask and the user’s face. A well-fitting respirator mask is essential in keeping employees safe from airborne illnesses.  Lorraine Cullen, Gaylord Director of Respiratory and Radiology, said that the extra hands and testing equipment brought by the WFD was invaluable in helping Gaylord fit-test employees in a timely manner.
