Walmart Donation to Support Adaptive Sports Opportunities at Gaylord Specialty Healthcare

WALLINGFORD, CONNECTICUT, June 9, 2020 – Gaylord Specialty Healthcare received a $2,500 donation from the Walmart Community Grants Program in support of Gaylord Sports Association’s adaptive sports programming.

Facilitated by Wallingford Walmart Store Manager Jon Roth and Training Coordinator Evelyn Smiles, the donation made through the Gaylord Gauntlet fundraiser will be used to purchase adaptive sporting equipment and offer programming at little or no cost to participants with permanent physical or visual impairments.

Last year, hundreds of adaptive athletes participated in the nearly 150 classes, clinics, and practices held by the Gaylord Sports Association. The program also provides specialized programming for military veterans with PTSD or physical disabilities.   “Walmart has a rich history of supporting both veterans and adaptive sports,” said Tara Knapp, Gaylord Vice President of Development, Marketing and Public Relations. “We thank Walmart for their continued commitment and support in helping our participants discover new possibilities and an enhanced quality of life through adaptive sports.”
