Gaylord Specialty Healthcare Board of Directors Issues Resolution of “Respect and Gratitude” in Honor of State Representative Mary Mushinsky

WALLINGFORD, CONNECTICUT, December 16, 2022 — The Board of Directors of Gaylord Specialty Healthcare, a nonprofit rehabilitation-focused healthcare system headquartered in Wallingford, recognized State Representative Mary Mushinsky’s forty-plus years of advocacy on behalf of the people and businesses of Wallingford with the presentation of a “resolution of respect and gratitude” at a recent board meeting.

Chair of the Gaylord Board Connor Dolan explained that Representative Mushinsky’s legislative leadership and ability to garner support for issues that benefit her constituents was evidenced in her tireless efforts over two legislative sessions to secure $4.5 million in state bond funding system and $2.6 million in ARPA funds to support the purchase of Gaylord’s new electronic medical record system

The new system will enhance communication and interoperability between Gaylord and other health systems in the region, will streamline the transfer of patients throughout the state and will greatly improve access to one’s personal health records.

“Representative Mushinsky’s personal commitment to Gaylord throughout the years has enabled her to understand the complexity of care Gaylord provides and the impact it has on a patient’s recovery and subsequent quality of life,” said Dolan.

“We are deeply grateful to Representative Mushinsky for her expertise, her leadership and dedication to the mission, vision and values of not only Gaylord Specialty Healthcare, but the wellbeing of the entire Wallingford community.”

"It was my pleasure to help Gaylord obtain $4.5 million in funding to modernize their electronic medical records and clear up an administrative obstacle to release the funds quickly,” said Representative Mushinsky.

“Gaylord is unique in being unable to qualify for federal grants for this technology upgrade, yet they are always dependable in serving patients. They deserve our support."
