Gaylord's ventilator weaning program helps patients transition away from mechanical ventilation when appropriate. Gaylord reports that its ventilator weaning success rate is well above the national average and that its team is often able to wean patients who could not be weaned at an acute care hospital. Gaylord's Home Destination Ventilator program helps patients transition home while continuing to use a ventilator. Gaylord partners with the patient, family, and home ventilator company to optimize ventilator settings, provide training and education, and coordinate the equipment and supplies needed for discharge.

Yes. Gaylord provides non-invasive ventilation using CPAP, BiPAP, and AVAPS. The team determines and optimizes the appropriate settings, mask type, and fit to improve patient comfort and compliance. When indicated, Gaylord can also qualify patients for home use and coordinate the necessary equipment and supplies.

Yes. Gaylord provides oxygen management as part of its pulmonary program. The team evaluates each patient's needs and adjusts oxygen as indicated while working to improve daily activities, function, and quality of life. Gaylord can also qualify patients for home oxygen use and facilitate the equipment and supplies needed before discharge.

Gaylord's respiratory team provides several types of testing, including nocturnal oxygen therapy testing for BiPAP and oxygen qualification, sleep studies to qualify for home CPAP, bedside spirometry, and respiratory mechanics.

The program serves patients with conditions including COPD, emphysema, asthma, pulmonary fibrosis, and interstitial lung disease, as well as patients before and after lung transplant.

Yes. Gaylord's team manages all components of care for patients with a tracheostomy tube. This includes speaking valve use, adjusting the size or type of tracheostomy tube, evaluating whether the tube can be removed when indicated, and educating patients and families when discharge home with a tracheostomy is appropriate.

Yes. Gaylord provides care both before and after lung transplant. Before transplant, the team works to optimize pulmonary health and function, as well as physical and nutritional status. Following transplant, the team supports recovery, provides education about care, and helps patients build strength and endurance.
