Nursing at Gaylord
Gaylord Hospital is a long-term acute care hospital where the average length of stay is 25 days, ranging from 14 to 28 days for many patients. Our patients come to us from short-term acute care hospitals with complex medical conditions, pulmonary conditions including needing vent weaning, serious injuries such as spinal cord and brain injury, or in the aftermath of a stroke. These are just a few of the many conditions we treat.
Once patients are medically stable we move them quickly toward rehabilitation, which may include physical, occupational and speech therapy. As a result of longer patient stays one of the great rewards of working at Gaylord is the opportunity to really get to know your patients. Many of our nursing staff have said that longer patient engagement and our team atmosphere are a few of the things that sets Gaylord apart as a great place to practice nursing.
