Gaylord Specialty Healthcare Lauded for Excellence in Healthcare Communications

WALLINGFORD, CONNECTICUT, October 15, 2020 — Gaylord Specialty Healthcare, a nonprofit rehabilitation-focused healthcare system based in Wallingford, announces that the organization’s external affairs department has been recognized with seven of the coveted Lamplighter Awards from the New England Society for Healthcare Communications (NESHCo) for their contributions to public relations and marketing campaigns.
The Lamplighters were established 30 years ago to showcase and honor excellence in healthcare communications throughout the New England region. The 2020 competition totaled nearly 300 entries from hospitals and major healthcare systems in the northeast which were judged by other healthcare marketing societies across the country.

Gaylord Specialty Healthcare was awarded the 2020 Gold Lamplighter Award in the categories of Public Relations, Media Relations, Success on a Shoestring, Special Events and Patient Video and also won the Silver Lamplighter Award in the categories of Public Relations and Media Relations.

Gaylord was also recognized as third-runner-up for the coveted “Best in New England Award” which is given to the single highest-scoring entry of the entire 2020 Lamplighter competition.

“I am incredibly proud to lead a team that’s passionate about sharing the good news of Gaylord’s life-changing expertise for patients who have suffered a devastating injury or illness,” said Tara Knapp, Vice President, External Affairs.
