The Young Stroke Accelerated Recovery Program

Stroke victims who were very active prior to their stroke are often ready, willing, and able to recover more quickly. Our Young Stroke program, a segment of inpatient stroke care at Gaylord, takes advantage of the energy and resiliency of such patients. The Young Stroke program is not based on age; rather, participation is related to the patient's activity prior to the stroke. Young Stroke participants often have a stay at the hospital, return home, and continue with outpatient therapy at Gaylord. The American Heart Association reported that nearly 20% of strokes happen to people still working. This program helps them get back to the life they were leading.

Inpatient Care

Each stroke survivor arrives to our inpatient unit with complicated needs, many questions, and the desire to know what the future holds. A clinical care team is assembled from key areas of Gaylord’s expertise. Together, the team and patient begin the work of recovery, regaining strength, speech, mobility, and independence. The rate and pace of rehabilitation is determined by the patient and his or her team, and we face the future together, every step of the way.

Outpatient Care

Making the fullest recovery from stroke demands outpatient therapy. At Gaylord, we can provide experienced therapists and advanced techniques to facilitate stroke rehabilitation at an advanced level, surrounding the patient with every resource needed to expand their abilities. Speech, physical, aquatic, and cognitive therapies are key components. Technology and its role in rehabilitation equipment is also critical. Explore our capabilities and see for yourself.
