WALLINGFORD, Conn. — Evergreens are everywhere at Gaylord Hospital in Wallingford this month.
For Giving Tuesday, the team at Gaylord joined a local crew from Amazon to gift around 200 lit trees and menorahs to any patients at the hospital who wanted some added holiday cheer in their rooms.
“It’s so appropriate because it’s Giving Tuesday, and it brings great joy to our patients and helps with brightening up the holidays when you have to be in the hospital,” said Tara Knapp, the vice president of external affairs for Gaylord Specialty Healthcare.
Elyse Nye, an Amazon site coordinator, said this is the company's fourth year supporting "this great cause."
“This brings the spirit and the warmth into each patient’s room," Nye said.
Kathryn Kelly Shaw, from New Britain, has been a patient at Gaylord since she suffered a stroke a few months ago. She was thrilled to receive a lit tree to brighten up both her room and her holiday while she is in the hospital.
“I’m so happy to have a tree to add to all the other love that’s around me," she said.
The Gaylord and Amazon teams said they provided around 200 mini-Christmas trees this year to distribute to patients.
