WALLINGFORD, CONNECTICUT, July 15, 2026 — Gaylord Specialty Healthcare has received a $25,000 grant from the David, Helen, and Marian Woodward Fund, Watertown to expand access to psychiatric services for patients recovering from life-altering illnesses and injuries.

The funding will support the renovation and expansion of treatment space for Gaylord's Center for Neurobehavioral Health, increasing access to specialized psychiatric care for patients throughout their inpatient rehabilitation stay.

The expanded space will enable the Center to serve more patients recovering from stroke, brain injury, spinal cord injury, prolonged critical illness, and other complex conditions with comprehensive psychological, neuropsychological, and psychiatric services. As an integral part of Gaylord's interdisciplinary rehabilitation program, the Center helps patients address the emotional, cognitive, and behavioral challenges that often accompany serious illness or injury, enabling them to maximize their recovery, independence, and quality of life.

"Recovery is about much more than physical healing," says Dr. Michael Ivy, Chief Medical Officer of Gaylord Specialty Healthcare.

"Many patients recovering from serious illness or injury experience depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, or other mental health challenges that can affect their ability to fully participate in rehabilitation. This grant will allow us to expand access to specialized psychiatric care so more patients can benefit from the comprehensive care that helps them achieve the best possible outcomes."
