WALLINGFORD, CONNECTICUT, December 8, 2025 – Gaylord Specialty Healthcare is pleased to announce that it has received a $75,000 grant from the State of Connecticut Health and Educational Facilities Authority (CHEFA) through its Client Grant Program.
The funding will help support the expansion of Gaylord’s inpatient psychiatric services, including therapy, medication management, and trauma-informed mental health support, helping to fill a significant gap in rehabilitative care for patients across the state.
Studies show that up to 40% of hospitalized patients experience mental health challenges, and the availability of on-site psychiatric care significantly improves access to treatment. Co-located services also reduce stigma, increase accessibility for patients seeking help, and enable providers to coordinate care more effectively.
“People recovering from lengthy hospitalizations or life-altering injuries or illnesses often face emotional challenges that can hinder physical recovery,” says Dr. Michael Ivy, Chief Medical Officer.
”Addressing both physical and mental health needs is essential for improving outcomes, staying motivated with treatment, and helping patients regain independence and ultimately their quality of life. We are deeply grateful to CHEFA for their support, which helps make this expansion possible and allows us to better serve our patients.”
CHEFA’s mission is to provide financial assistance to eligible entities in the State, expand educational opportunities for Connecticut students, and enhance the quality of life for State residents, including those in distressed communities.
