A Young Mother’s Fight to Reclaim Her Life After Guillain-Barré Syndrome
What she thought was a routine cold quickly turned into a life-changing moment for 24-year-old Mariah Ferraiolo of Milford. Within weeks, she lost the ability to move, speak, and breathe independently, leading to a diagnosis of Guillain-Barré Syndrome, a rare condition where the immune system attacks the nerves.
Mariah arrived at Gaylord Hospital paralyzed and on a ventilator. With the support of her care team and family, she began rebuilding strength through intensive rehabilitation, driven by one goal: getting home to her young son.
